Each year, the La Crosse Community Theatre produces a musical in conjunction with The Penguin Project. In these productions, every role is played by an Artist with developmental disabilities, and shows that theatre can be accessible for everyone. Each Artist has a peer mentor throughout the process, but it is ultimately the Artists who perform each show.
In this production of Seussical, Jr., one of the Artists had an impairment due to certain colors of light, so I was able to work with the Artist, the Artist's guardians, and the Stage Manager to determine what colors of light would be acceptable.
Several of the scenes took place in front of a white scrim, so I was able to use a series of ETC Colorsource Spots to add color and texture to this.
